Spring Items

Spring started officially on March 20th this year. I thought I'd share some of the springtime themed items in my shop:

Green Bird Journal

Yellow Flower Thank You Card

Yellow and Blue Belle Journal

A Little Bit of Sunshine Journal

I don't think I mentioned that I got a new laptop. I had to buy it for school, but it's a Macbook and it's really nice to have because I'm keeping all of my photos on it. It makes it a lot easier to organize and edit my Etsy photos. Before I just used whatever photo program I had to edit photos, but now I have Photoshop. Look out for some new items in my shop soon.

New Sales & Scissors Treasury

I made some new sales! I sold a Custom Altered 2011 Moleskine Planner. The buyer is traveling to Paris this year so she wanted to get a map of Paris as the cover. Here's how it came out:

I also sold this Brown Guitar Greeting Card (Version II):

I made a new treasury about scissors. You can see it here.

I have a couple other treasuries I'm working on too. It's a fun way to find and showcase other Etsy items. You can always see other items and artwork that inspire me on my Tumblr.

What's On My Bookshelf

I got the idea from the Like a Bird blog to do a "what's on my bookshelf" blog entry. I thought it'd be a fun post and a good way to get to know me better.

These are some of my books:

Books and Boxes by Benjamin D. Rinehart

This book helped get me in to bookbinding and taught me how to make books and boxes. It's a good book if you're new at paper crafts and the tutorials are easy to follow. It has some unique ideas and I still like looking at it to get inspired.

Girlosophy 2: The Love Survival Kit

I randomly picked up this book years ago. It kind of reminds me of a magazine because it's a mixture of photography and text. The theme for this book is love (the original Girlosophy is just about life, this is the second edition). It has a lot of photos and inspirational quotes and text about love.

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella

I love Sophie Kinsella novels. Her books are entertaining chick lit reads, but they're good too. This is my favorite book by her. It's about a young woman who gets visited by the ghost of her great aunt. Together to try to find a necklace that belonged to the aunt.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I heard a lot of good things about this series so I picked it up a few months ago and I loved it. The series is a science fiction about a post-apocalpytic world where the government holds an annual televised event called the Hunger Games. Children are forced to fight for their lives on live television, but only one person survives. The books are intense and really well written and make you think.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann

This is another series I like. I read it in junior high/high school, but I still love the books. It's a good series about friendship and growing up. The movies based on the book are good too.

Brida by Paulo Coelho

I picked this book up at an airport a while ago, but I haven't started this book yet. I heard it was a good book so I'm looking forward to reading it. It tells the story of an Irish girl who wishes to become a witch.

Tell All by Chuck Palahniuk

Chuck Palahniuk is one of my favorite authors. I have almost every one of his books on my bookshelf and a couple are autographed. This is his most recent book. I haven't read it yet, I think I might save it for this summer.

Blink by Malcolm Gladwell

I just started this book. It's about using your intuition and making good life decisions. I like reading self help books like this and I think it will be a really interesting read.

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson

This book has little bits of advice about not "sweating the small stuff". It reminds you to take a lighthearted approach in life and not to overreact to things. It's good to read when I'm feeling stressed or need a little life advice.

You can also add me on Goodreads if you want. What are your favorite books? What books are you currently reading?

Tree of Life Box

I don't have any St. Patrick's Day themed items, but I'm thinking of making some greeting cards for next year. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

New Alphabet Greeting Cards

I listed these new greeting cards that follow an alphabet theme. The letters are all cut outs from the same decorative paper. They're good for a variety of occasions and people, but they're especially good to use for children and teachers.

A is for Apple Greeting Card

B is for Bird Greeting Card

C is for Cake Greeting Card

Besides Etsy, I've been really busy with school. I'm currently working on a wire sculpture for my sculpture class and I have a bunch of photos to take for my photography class. I also just registered for classes for the summer which I'm excited about it.

Pi Day

Happy Pi Day! Pi Day is a holiday celebrated on March 14th to celebrate the number Pi (which is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, approximately 3.14). I have some math themed and Pi Day items in my shop:

Pi Chart Greeting Card (Version II)

Math Lover's Congratulations Greeting Card

Mini Math Journal

Pink Number Pi Day Greeting Card

I was also featured in these Pi Day treasuries:

Pi Day

Pi Day Treasury

Are you a math person? Do you celebrate Pi Day?

Recent Sales and Craft Show

Here are some recent sales I've made. I made this altered Moleskine sale a few weeks ago, but just got done doing the custom order and shipping it:

Custom Altered 2011 Moleskine Planner

I also sold this greeting card:

Book Lover's Script Greeting Card

I applied for doing a spring art sale at my school. It's a sale where you can sell artwork and crafts. They only have spots for a certain number of people and I'm on the waiting list. I hope I'll be able to do it because I think it would be a lot of fun and it doesn't cost anything.

Happiness Project

I'm doing an online project for one of my classes where I'm supposed to use the internet to create some type of art piece. I decided to ask people on various message boards and social networking sites to post one photo of something that makes them happy. I'm using the photos people send me to create a sort of large quilt/collage of the photos. This is what I have sofar:

I'm going to keep adding to it and I'm hoping to get a lot more photos. I think it's really fun to see what makes other people consider happiness. Feel free to participate by leaving a comment with a link to a photo of something that makes you feel happy.

Mary Kay Cosmetics

I'm a new beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Being a beauty consultant means I help sell Mary Kay products and I earn some of the money from it. It's not really directly related to Etsy, but I thought I'd post it here because I think being a beauty consultant can help the business side of my Etsy. I'm in training right now and a lot of the things they talk about are already helping me. For example, they focus a lot on repeat customers which I think I could focus more of in my shop.

Here are some of Mary Kay's best sellers:

TimeWise 3-In-1 Cleanser

Mineral Eye Colors

Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover

Mary Kay Eyeliner in Black

If you're interested in buying makeup, you can see my page and buy from me here.
