Journaling Pages

I'm working on new items. I'm waiting until I get a new light to take photos. I usually take photos with a light over head since I don't have a lightbox here, but for some reason my desk light broke and I think I'll have to buy a new one. I hope I'll get the photos by Monday or Tuesday and then list some new items. I also have in the process photos, so I think when I list new items, I'll also show photos of how i made them. :)

In other etsy news, I went to an EtsyVeg team chat today. I thought it was fun and I don't usually go in to chats. I also haven't been really following my teams lately, so it was nice to get caught up.

For now, I thought I'd do something different and post some of my own journal pages from the past year. I have a new journal now, but my scanner hasn't worked for me yet, so I might wait until I get home to scan photos from there. Both of these are from journals I made. :)

For some reason, this has over 1,000 views on flickr (which is way more than I ever get). Sometimes, you just get lucky with your photos or the way it's tagged I think. But I don't know if it got featured somewhere.

I was making a journal from an old children's book and this page was from the inside, which I didn't need for the journal. The journal was actually one of my first sales. :)

The heart is made with pictures of my top played artists on last.fm

During Election season. It's exciting to see how it progressed because I kept pages about the election in each of my journals sofar.

I originally did scans because I post some of these in a livejournal community, which inspires my journaling a lot. There's a lot more on my flickr. If you keep a journal and have any photos or scans, feel free to share. :)

Tagged

I've been tagged in a blogging game by Melissa of ShimmerMeBlue. :)

Here are the rules:

Choose the 6th image out of your 6th picture folder from your computer and blog it. Then tag 6 more people to do the same!

I got this picture:

I was worried it would be something completely unrelated to crafting, but I kind of saved this picture because it reminded me of the type of creativity and uniqueness of etsy. It's a photo of Katy Perry from the Grammy's I think. I saw it on a blog talking about celebrities and I don't really listen to Katy Perry or anything, but I loved the purse she wore which is shaped like a cupcake. I thought it was a really fun item. Her dress is also supposed to be a peacock I think and it has eyes on it.

So, I'm tagging...

Oscar's Items

I made a couple new journals for the first time in a while. One was the Music Lovers Address Book, which I had to redo because I lost the original one. I'm also working on a new journal that's pretty big and has this really pretty flower paper from Italy. It has this red theme - there's red flowers on the outside and bright red paper on the inside. I really like how it looks sofar. I haven't figured out where I'm going to store my items in my room yet. I just sort of keep them on the table for now. Hopefully, I can find some shelf or drawer space.

Some of my election day items and Halloween cards expired, which is actually nice to clean up a little. I guess I can save the Halloween cards for next year, I'm not sure about the cards encouraging people to vote though. Since it's no longer Valentine's Day, I made a new section in my shop celebrating the Oscar's. I have a few movie related items in my shop so I thought they would fit with an "Oscar's Night" theme. Here's some of the items I included:

Center Stage Movie Recycled Journal

I started making a set of movie related journals. I used to collect movie advertisements from magazines when I was little and I had a whole pile of them laying in my closet. I thought they would be good to use for the cover of journals and I would coptic stitch the pages together. The problem is there's some imperfections on the journals (the paper of the movie poster didn't really smooth down when I glued it on the board for the cover) so I either put them on sale price or didn't list them.

This journal uses a movie poster from Center Stage, a movie about a group of dancers with different backgrounds who enroll in a ballet academy in New York. I first saw this movie a while ago. It's sort of a teen movie and it's aimed a lot towards dancers, but I thought it was a really good movie and I consider it one of my favorites.

Lizzie McGuire Movie Poster Recycled Journal

This is another movie poster journal that uses a Lizzie McGuire poster. It also uses blue, polka dot decorative paper on the inside. I really like how it turned out, even though I guess it's kind of outdated since there's a new generation of Disney stars now.

By the way, if you have a favorite movie or have a movie poster or advertisement from a movie you really like, I could make a journal or card for you featuring that poster. You just have to custom order from my shop. :)

Black and White Faces in Crowd Journal

This journal (and a card I made with the same fabric) uses a black and white fabric with faces of icons on it. I'm not sure who exact people are, but I know it's real celebrities on there. Tell me if you recognize anyone.

Good News Greeting Card

This card uses a newspaper decorative paper and says "I heard the good news..." on the inside. I added this because it could be a card you give someone when they win some type of award (like an Oscar) and they receive any good news.

You can see the whole section here.

Kind of off topic, but I also got new pens in the mail. They're the Pigma Micron 05 collection with different colors. I use them for my own journaling and I'm going to use them in my planner too. It's nice to have good quality pens and I've been looking for different colors for a while. They're pretty thick so they're also good for writing letters and writing addresses for mailing stuff for etsy.

Valentine's Day Items

I thought I'd showcase some of my Valentine's Day themed items. You can find them all in my valentine day section here. I know it's kind of late to buy for Valentine's Day, but if you ever need some love or wedding themed items, here they are.

Roses are Red Box

This box has a rose theme. It's more useful than a bouquet of roses. :)

Heart Shaped Journal

I had fun making this heart shaped journal. It's two sides of a heart stitched together in to a journal using red thread. This is also featured on the EtsyVeg blog today. :)

Dressed to Impressed Greeting Card

It's not exactly Valentine's Day themed, but I think it fits with the red color. This card is also good for somebody going to a big event, maybe a Valentine's Day party or date.

Key to My Heart Greeting Card

This card has an actual key attached to it. It also has a tag attached to it made out of pretty decorative paper and tied with a gold ribbon. It was one of the first greeting cards I made and I really like how it turned out. The whole idea is to show somebody they have the "key" to your heart.

Love Deeply Inspiring Quote Greeting Card

This card was originally based on another card I made that had hearts in different colors. I think the pink theme is perfect for Valentine's Day. The quote says, "To love deeply in one direction makes us more loving in all others."

Happy Valentine's Day!

New Sale & New Paper

I got a new sale! It was for this mini music address book here.

It's kind of bad though because I think I actually lost it. It's not really a big deal because I'll just make a new one, but I should have taken it off when I couldn't find it instead of leaving it up (I figured I would find it before it sold). I'm really happy I got a sale though. :) It's been over a month since I got one and I'm excited. Speaking of sales, I contacted the guy who owns the shop where some of my books are being sold. He said none of them sold yet, but it good to check in. I'm not sure if it's just my items or how his business is doing overall for the shop.

I don't have any of the paper I used in that book left to make a new one, so I bought some of that paper again. I also got some other decorative paper - I couldn't help myself. Now I'll have a bunch of new paper to use when I make new journals. I've also been using a little of my new paper (that I bought before) in my own art journal, but I'm trying to save it for new items.

There's so many pretty decorative papers out there, I want to be try making some of my own (maybe by screenprinting on paper) someday. Almost all the new paper I bought was Florentine paper from Italy. They have a lot of really pretty patterns.

With Valentine's Day coming up, has anybody seen any cute Valentine's items? Even though it's probably too late to buy a Valentine's gift, they're fun to look at. Post your favorites you've seen if you have some. :)

EtsyVeg & Puppies

I'm a featured member in the EtsyVeg blog this week. I was really excited to see that I was featured. :) I need some more exposure for my shop.

While I was on the etsy blog, I saw this cute featured pet:

I hope it's okay if I post a photo here. I love their blue eyes. :) I really want a puppy.

I also got my EtsyVeg cookbook in the mail and my recipe for marinara sauce is in it. If you want to purchase your own copy, you can go here. All the recipes are vegan and
all profits from the sale of go to the Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary to help animals. Here's a photo I took of my recipe. I put my logo on it and a little info about my shop at the bottom:

I haven't been working on new items because I'm still waiting for my paper cutter and I've just been really busy with other stuff - I have a psychology test tomorrow and I've been doing a lot with Photography (I'm learning how to develop my own photos). I did make a few greeting cards. They're nothing special, but it was nice to make a few new items. It's also been nice to have a break though. I figured I have 100 items in my shop right now and that's a lot and I should wait until I make a few sales before listing new items anyway (I haven't had a sale since December). I'm working on a Valentine's Day theme entry so look for that soon.

New Paper and V-Day Showcase

I finally got my items in the mail. :) I wasn't expecting it today, but I got like 5 packages from ordering supplies for my Photography class. The last package I got was the stuff I ordered from Hollander's. I got lots of pretty, new paper:

I also got glue and new scissors. The reason they didn't send the package right away is because they were worried about the glue freezing from the weather. It's kind of clumpy right now, I don't know if that's from the weather (maybe from it being really cold and then it sort of warming up). I'm really glad I got the glue though because I also journal and collage/glue stuff in, so it's nice to be able to do that now. I have lots of new ideas for journals. I can't start any yet because I'm still waiting on my paper cutter, but I'll probably make a few on the weekend.

My mom also sent me this bag she made for me. It's simple, but I think it's really cute. It's brown and has a cardinal embroidered on it (which is perfect for winter):

My heart shaped journal is in the Valentine's Day showcase today. Yay, I'm happy about it. I kind of wanted to show off my heart shaped journal. I hope it brings me some exposure to my shop. Here's a screen shot (mine's on the right side of the second row):
