One Hundred Hearts

I (almost) have 100 shop hearts. It's really nice to see that a lot of people like my shop (even if they're not buying). In honor of reaching a milestone with my hearts, I decided to show off a couple items from my favorites.

These are some of the political items I have hearted recently. I just watched the SNL Tina Fey/Sarah Palin skit and it got me in a political mood. I haven't really decided how I feel about selling political items yet. I don't know if I want to offend anyone by only supporting one side, but I was thinking of making a couple of greeting cards with the Obama sign or just saying "Vote" on them to remind people to vote. I was also thinking of making little stickers. I actually was going to make them this weekend, but ran out of card stock and it got me thinking if I actually wanted to make them at all. Let me know what you think. :) Anyway, there are a lot of creative political items on Etsy:

Obama Buttons - I bought these Obama buttons. They are so fun. I love the heart shaped Obama sign and the one with the peace sign.

Eugene the Polar Bear - I love this polar bear. It's adorable just on it's own, but I thought it was interesting how they made a stuffed animal a political statement and it's so clever to use a polar bear. (I just checked on how many hearts this has and it has 47! That's probably the most I've seen an item have hearts.)

Hope Necklace Obama Fundraiser - Whether you're for Obama or not, this hope necklace has a great message and is really pretty. The owner is giving $30 to the Obama campaign if it sells, which is really generous and good to see people just aren't using the campaign to profit themselves.

Paris Hilton for President Bumper Sticker - I thought the commercial Paris Hilton did was hilarious and I love this bumper sticker inspired by it.

I was browsing Etsy for Animals and just found out that my cards (Pawprint and Pink Butterfly) were featured in two treasuries that celebrated EFA's birthday. I was excited to find that out, but I wish I noticed it sooner. I wonder if there's any other treasures I've missed?

I was also featured on the Cruelty Free Etsy team blog. It's a short interview that every new member does and explains why I use cruelty free products.

I worked on a bunch holiday themed cards this weekend and I will have them up soon. :) I made some cards for Halloween and worked on one for Christmas. I really like how they turned out and even wrote a tutorial for one. I have a custom box order too I have to make, so hopefully my supplies for that will get here soon.

Great blog! Very colorful and interesting. I think it's fine to offer political items in your shop. Best of luck and congratulations on 100 hearts.

I love the obama buttons! and the polar bear!! And don't worry about offending people with choosing a side, they need to get over it. :)
