Easter Egg Decorations

Happy Easter! Here are some ideas on how to decorate your Easter eggs this year.

Watercolor floral Easter eggs are perfect for spring. Just paint watercolor designs on your eggs and use black marker to outline your designs.

Did you know you can dye eggs naturally using natural ingredients? This tutorial shows you how to dye Easter eggs with various items you might have in your kitchen including paprika, red cabbage and beet.

Why not add a message to your eggs? Poke a hole to an egg to add a message inside. You can also download a template to add calligraphy to the outside of your Easter eggs. Or use a marker or ink to add your own style calligaphy.

Add a little bling to your Easter eggs. The eggs on the left use gold glitter with various designs. The elegant eggs on the right use lots of tiny paper flowers, paint and gold foil to create texture.

For something creative, try galaxy themed easter eggs. Place in a basket with matching Easter grass.

Easter Baskets

Why not make your own Easter basket this year? Try one of the ideas below.
A Fabric Origami Basket makes a simple Easter basket that you can keep throughout the year.

How about using items from your kitchen as Easter baskets? Use a berry box as an Easter basket. Just apply glue to the top edges and sprinkle gold glitter on top. You can add a handle, such as with ribbon, if you want. Another idea is to spray paint an old colander. Add matching Easter grass or tissue paper.

The basket on the left is made of felt. Use rainbow yarn to make a Crochet Coil Basket, pictured on the right.

Easter Fashion

Easter is a great time to get dressed up. These are some of my favorite Easter fashion looks.

How about adding Easter eggs or flowers to your hair?

If you love nail art, try one of these looks for Easter. The look on the left from Jin Soon Choi uses pastel blue and pink colors that also fit with Pantone’s Color of the Year. The creative nail art look on the right uses speckled nail polish from ModelsOwn and is inspired by ornate bird egg shells.

Bunny ears are a fun accessory to add to your outfit.

Pi Day Pie Inspiration

Happy Pi Day! Pi Day is a holiday celebrated on March 14th to celebrate the number Pi (which is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, approximately 3.14). Why not celebrate Pi Day by making pie?

Gold Table Tutorial

I had this old table in my room. It has a pretty carved design on the side and top. It was a brown color, but the color of the table was faded and the table was in sort of bad condition. I thought I would spray paint it gold to freshen it up.

Supplies:

  • Old Table: You can use any table or old piece of furniture you have. My table is sort of odd shaped and has a carved design in it.
  • Spray Paint: Choose your favorite color. I wanted to update my table from brown to gold.
  • Newspaper or Drop Cloth: Use something to cover your ground so you do not get paint everywhere.
  • Sandpaper: The sandpaper will be helpful for wooden tables to help smooth the table.
  • All Purpose Cleaner: Use your favorite all purpose cleaner or disinfecting wipes.
  • Cloth

Instructions:

1. Lay out newspaper or a drop cloth on the ground. Place the table on top.

2. Use sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges of a wood table. Wipe off any dust or dirt on the table. Use an all purpose cleaner on the whole table.

3. Start by spray painting either the bottom or inside. Shake the can and hold the can about 6 inches away from the table as you spray.

4. Use a couple layers of paint until you get the desired consistency. Let dry overnight before using.

I like how it turned out. The gold makes the designs and carvings in the table stand out more so you can see the artwork better. Let me know if you’d like to see more interior design type of tutorials in the future. How do you like to update your furniture

National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day: Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream

Did you know today is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day? Peanuts are a legume native to South America. Peanut butter is a food paste made from peanuts.

Why not try celebrate by using peanut butter in your recipes? Try making this peanut butter banana ice cream sandwich.

Ingredients:

  • 2 frozen bananas, as ripe as possible
  • 2 tablespoons nondairy milk
  • 1-2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • Dash of salt
  • Handful of chocolate chips

Instructions:

In a blender, blend the bananas. You can also use a fork to mash the bananas.

Add the nondairy milk, peanut butter and salt. Blend once more.

Spread the banana mixture on one graham cracker. Top with the other graham cracker. If the banana mixture is too runny, freeze the banana mixture first.

Wrap the graham cracker sandwiches in aluminum foil. Stick in the freezer until frozen.

Unwrap the sandwich when you are ready to eat. Enjoy!

You can see my original post on banana ice cream, as well as more ideas for variations, here.

Let me know if you try out this recipe.
