Do I love winter? I love certain parts of winter, and winter photography heads the list. In winter, the days are short, and the light is low in the sky. This creates great shadows and backlight. Water in frozen form transforms into myriad shapes that sparkle and dazzle the eye. Snow leaves evidence of silent, nocturnal creatures. I'm happy when spring arrives, but winter's rare beauty adds warmth when it's sorely needed.
