Autumn Greeting Cards

I made some new greeting cards made just in time for autumn. They both use the same fabric on the outside, but in different colors. I found this fabric at a local fabric store in my college town. I think these cards would be good to give out for Halloween, Thanksgiving or birthdays in the fall.

Treasuries I've Been Featured In

I've been featured in a couple treasuries recently:

My card (bottom row) was featured in this Falling in Love treasury which features pretty autumn themed items.

My vintage journal (on right) was featured in this Upcycled Blues treasury.

I was also featured in this treasury that celebrated the band, CocoRosie. My keyboard greeting card is the last item on this treasury.

Measuring Tape Pouch from Dainty Squid

I recently purchased this cute measuring tape pouch from The Dainty Squid. I've been following The Dainty Shop for a while and I decided with the new school year, a small pouch like this could come in handy.

I'm using it to store my crafty stuff like thread and my bone folder. I thought the measuring tape theme went well for storing craft supplies.

The pouch is really cute and well made. It's a little small, so it can't hold a lot of stuff. Overall, I'm really happy with the purchase though and it's nice to have an item from a shop I've been wanting to buy from for a while. I think these pouches would make great gifts or are great for storing small things.

Sea Themed Appliqués

The last Etsy event I went to this summer was on July 28th at the South Steet Seaport where we made sea-themed appliqués. It was nice they had an event somewhere other than their Etsy labs. The Seaport area was really nice. There were a lot of cute shops around and they had free ice cream right outside where the event was being held.

I sewed a whale cut out on to this sea themed fabric. I might try to do something else with it, but I'm not sure what yet.

I get used to doing paper crafts and journals so it's fun to do different crafts like sewing, which I don't usually do. If you're ever in the New York area, stop by the Etsy Labs. They always have events going on.

Embroidered Cards at Etsy Labs

The second Etsy lab event I went to was on July 19th. It was cupcake night (they had free cupcakes) and they had two crafts going on - needle felted pinback buttons and embroidered cards. I made an embroidered card.

The embroidered cards was kind of inspiring to me because it was a different way to make greeting cards than I usually do. You basically get a design (Etsy had a cupcake template out, but I used this cute drawing of a bird someone else made and added a heart) and punch holes that outline the design on to a card. Then you just sew through the holes with whatever color thread(s) you want. I used a gold/yellow color for the bird and purple for the details.

Here's me in the process of making it:

And this is how it turned out:

Have you ever made embroidered cards or been to an Etsy event?

Felted Cupcakes at Etsy Labs

As I mentioned in my last entry, I went to a couple Etsy lab events this summer in Brooklyn, NY. The first Etsy lab event I went to was in early/mid July. I made faux felt cakes with Kitiya from My Candy Castle.

The idea is really cute and I love fake food stuffed toys like this. I made a really simple pink and white cupcake. It's basically just a cupcake pattern with felt, stuffed and then decorated.

I used hot glue to add decorations and lace to the outside. Unfortunately, it came apart a little bit, but I was able to glue it back together.

I have photos from two other events I'll be posting in future entries. Look out for those. :)
